Mothers’ Day is May 9th …and this year you can show your Mom how much she means to you by surprising her with unique and personal gifts, just for her. And even if you waited until the last minute—a little thoughtful planning will go a long way to making this Mother’s Day extra-special. With these ten terrific tips you can treat Mom like a queen for a day, without spending a fortune.

  • A night (or afternoon) on the town. Give Mom a gift you can share by taking her to a concert, play or movie, or enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the spa. She’ll really appreciate the time you spend together!  Check out Attractions Ontario for great deals.
  • Create a coupon book. A personal gift and a great idea for kids is to make a coupon book filled with special things to do for Mom—breakfast in bed, a peaceful bubble bath, setting the table, cleaning their room, and of course, lots of free hugs!  Go to Flyerland.ca to get your printable coupon book.
  • Add a little sparkle – Jewellery is always a great gift idea for mom.  Not only will she love the sentiment, but also think of you each time she wears it.  Retailers like Ben Moss Jewellers have a great selection of  gift items that will give her wardrobe a little bit of sparkle.
  • Fill a gift basket with treats. A gift basket can be a unique gift, especially when you personalize it to her hobbies— gourmet food items or kitchen gadgets for the chef, gardening goodies for the green thumb, spa stuff for the Mom who deserves to be pampered (and every Mother does!).  Be creative!  Go to Flyerland.ca and get all the essentials to fill your basket from retailers such as Wal-Mart, Zellers and The Bay.
  • Give a gift that keeps giving. A one year subscription to her favourite magazine is a thoughtful gift that will remind Mom how much you care…all year long.  Check out Flyerland.ca for some inexpensive offers on some of your favourite Canadian Magazines.
  • Pick a card. Gift cards can be a really personal present and there are so many to choose from! Treat her to a gift card for a special store, the local mall or tailor it to her interests and hobbies.. Or, visit Flyerland.ca and enter to win a 1 of 5 $500 gift cards from Merry Maids courtesy of Life Experiences.
  • Gifts by the book. If your Mom loves to read, stock her library with the latest title from an author she enjoys. As an added touch, you can do some research and include book reviews, and give a cute mug and her tea of choice. Check out Chapters/Indigo to get the whole story on super offers.
  • Have fun with photos. Scan in old family photos and make a movie for Mom or upload them to a digital photo frame. You can also create a picture book online at Black’s Photography and they will produce it for you. See them on Flyerland.ca
  • Cook her favourite meal. Give Mom a break from the kitchen by making a delicious dinner, featuring her most delectable dishes. You may want to make it a theme night, complete with decorations and music. Use the good dishes and get the whole family to help with the shopping, cooking and clean up. Go to Flyerland.ca for the best deals on all your ingredients from grocers such as Real Canadian Super Store, Loblaws, Overwaitea and Save On Foods.
  • And finally, flowers. A bouquet of blossoms is always appreciated, but you may want to consider giving Mom a plant so she can enjoy the beauty even longer.
